Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on politicians to work together in improving the lives of all Kenyans.
The President spoke on Thursday at State House, Nairobi, during a new year luncheon hosted for members of parliament.
He said he will continue engaging all leaders irrespective of their political persuasions so as to ensure that Kenya becomes a strong and united nation.
“I hope and pray that this spirit with which we’ve started with shall continue until elections are over for us to be able to bequeath again a new administration peace, unity and a focus on the issues that affect the people of Kenya,” the President said.
Uhuru reminded politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
He commended members of parliament for passing crucial bills, which he said were key to improving governance and delivery of services to Kenyans.
ODM leader Raila Odinga and the Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju were among the leaders who attended the meeting.
Kenyans will be electing their leaders of choice in the August 9 polls this year.
