South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is making good progress in his recovery from COVID-19 the presidency said on Friday.
The 69-year-old tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, and immediately entered into self-isolation in Cape Town.
The presidency noted that Ramaphosa is in good spirits and comfortable in his recovery.
It noted that the president had urged South Africans to remain vigilant during the festive period to curb further spread of the virus in the country.
He called for vaccinations and adherence to health protocols, including washing or sanitising hands frequently, maintaining a social distance and avoiding gatherings.
