The government of Tanzania has injected 20bn/- soft loan to National Housing Corporation (NHC) for the construction of 1,000 low-cost houses in Chamwino and Iyumbu area in Dodoma, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said.
The Premier said on Sunday when laying the foundation stone for the 1,000 residential houses.
He pointed out that the construction of the first phase of the low-cost houses will consist of 404 houses with a budget of 21.4bn/- while the whole project will cost 71bn/-.
“The six-phase government will keep on investing in major strategic projects especially the ministries’ offices at the government city and public servants residential houses to relieve them from high accommodation rent and increase their work efficiency,” the PM said.

PM has further said that the government will continue investing in Dodoma city infrastructures for the provision of reliable water services and the construction of public servants residential houses.
He further ordered the NHC to meet with other government agencies in order to come up with the best modalities for ensuring that the houses are fixed with water, electricity and roads infrastructures at affordable rates
The agencies that the Premier Majaliwa ordered the NHC to engage with including Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), Dodoma Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DUWASA) and the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO).
