Vibrant Simba Sports club made it a torrid few days for FC Platnum as goals by Erasto Nyoni, Shomari Kapombe, John Bocco and Clatous Chama sealed a 4-0 victory to send them through to Caf Champions League group stage.
The Platinum Miners came into the fixture with a slim 1-0 advantage secured from the first leg meeting played at National Sports Stadium in Harare on December 23.
Erasto Nyoni put Simba ahead, from the penalty spot in the 40th minute. Before Shomari Kapombe added the second in the 61st minute.
John Bocco grabbed the third in added time. And Clatous Chama made it 4-0 with seconds left to the final whistle.
Simba coach Sven Vandenbroeck made two changes to the side that played the first leg. Striker Chris Mugalu came in for Meddie Kagere, while Rally Bwalya replaced Hassan Dilunga.
Platinum suffered a huge blow. When five of their key players were withdrawn from the squad, after testing positive for Covid-19.
Simba stroll into the next stage on the back of a 4-1 aggregate victory after overturning a 1-0 first round loss to Platinum.
This is the third time for Simba to reach the stage in history.
The first time was in 2003 after eliminating on penalties by then the defending champions, Zamalek of Egypt. Before doing so in 2018-2019 editions respectively.
Simba will now shift their focus to the Mapinduzi Cup which is currently taking place in Zanzibar.
