The board of directors of the East African Beer Company (EABL), today announced Jane Karuku as the new director of the Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL), Uganda Beer Company (UBL) and Kenya Beer Company (KBL). )
Jane Karuku who was a member of the EABL board and executive director of KBL, replaces Andrew Cowan who has been the executive director of EABL for four and a half years. Cowan is set to take over at Diageo’s parent company as CEO of African markets.
Jane Karuku is a dynamic business leader with more than 25 years of experience. Prior to joining KBL, she was president of the international non-governmental organization Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). major subsidies in the area of food security and agricultural development.
Jane has also worked in various positions at various organizations including Cadbury’s East & Central Africa where she was executive director before joining Telkom Kenya as deputy chief executive officer and secretary general. At Cadbury he was involved in 14 countries in Africa
She has also worked on various boards such as Barclays Kenya and is currently a member of the Precious Sisters organization which helps talented and vulnerable girls get an education. She is currently chairing the Kenya Vision 2030 program and also chaired the anti-Covid-19 board formed by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
SHe will be replaced by John Musunga who will be the new CEO of KBL. Musunga has more than 25 years of experience in administration, sales and marketing and Joins EABL from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
Musunga has worked on various boards and in various positions. He has served as a board member of Kenya Vision 2030, chairman of the Kenya Association of Pharmaceuticals Industry and has also served as chairman of the HIV / AIDS Commercial Council.
