

The Kiswahili National Council (BAKITA) has awarded a certificate of knowledge of Kiswahili language Italian Ambassador to Tanzania Hon. Roberto Mengoni immediately after completing his training and passing at intermediate level.
Speaking at a short ceremony held at BAKITA Offices in Dar es Salaam, the Official Guest, Director of the Department of Cultural Development from the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Dr. Emanuel Temu congratulated the Ambassador and asked other diplomats to learn the Kiswahili language as it will help them in various activities while in the country.

And the Acting Executive Secretary of the Kiswahili National Council (BAKITA) Ms. Consolata Mushi congratulated Ambassador Mengoni on completing his training as well as having many other responsibilities.
“Dear Guest of Honor, now diplomats have shown an interest in learning the Kiswahili language as so far the Italian Ambassador is the second to be awarded a certificate of Kiswahili language skills preceded by the Polish Ambassador to Tanzania Mr. Krzysztof Buzalski,” said Ms. Consolata.
For his part, the Italian Ambassador to Tanzania, Hon. Roberto Mengoni thanked BAKITA for enabling him to learn and understand Kiswahili as many Ambassadors use English and it is difficult for them to communicate as a large percentage of Tanzanians speak Kiswahili rather than English.
