A delegation from the East African Community Secretariat visits the SGR Construction Project

A delegation from the East African Community Secretariat visited the Modern Railway (SGR) construction project with the aim of seeing the progress of the construction of the project being implemented in the country.

The delegation was led by the Deputy Secretary General of the Community in charge of Planning, Infrastructure, Finance and Administration Eng. Steven Mlote began his journey to visit the project from Makutopola to Dar es Salaam. The delegation had the opportunity to see for themselves the progress made in parallel with the various activities carried out and in the implementation of the project, including the manufacturing of some equipment used in the construction of the project.

Speaking during the visit Eng. Mlote said he was pleased with the great work being done by the Government in implementing the project which is of great benefit to the Nation and to the East African Community.

“We have seen the great work being done by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in sliding this great project, we congratulate His Excellency the President Dr. Thank you for designing this project. ” Eng.Mlote.

In addition, he added that he was pleased with the participation of a large number of Tanzanian youth in various sectors of construction of the project which employed about 13,796 people. He urged the young Tanzanians who had the opportunity to build the railway to continue learning with heart and dedication to gain the knowledge and skills to continue to maintain, run and develop the project even after the experts from the construction company left the country.

On the other hand Eng. Mlote called on Tanzanians, especially those around the mineral area, to start fully prepared to take advantage of the opportunities that will come from the modern railway project by starting to increase production in the field and manufactured goods as the project will facilitate the transportation of goods and people to neighboring countries. of Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African States.

The delegation from the East African Community Secretariat is also looking forward to visiting the Mwalimu Nyerere dam construction project, located in Rufiji District with a view to seeing the progress made in construction.
