Dar es Salaam, 21 November 2020 – This year the leading digital mobile phone company, Vodacom Tanzania PLC is celebrating twenty years of service delivery since it started operating in Tanzania. As part of the 20th anniversary, Vodacom Tanzania PLC today launched a festive season campaign known as “Shangwe Shangwena” where through this campaign, Vodacom will reward its customers who are more focused on digital lifestyle using the smart payment system M-Pesa.
These customers, more than fifteen million, will win prizes worth three billion shillings including five new cars, cash prizes, cash back when the customer pays for goods or sends money via M-Pesa, free MB, talk time, text messages (SMS) plus discounts when a customer makes a smart phone purchase using M-Pesa.
Giving a speech at the launch of the campaign, Vodacom Tanzania PLC Commercial Director Linda Riwa expressed that she was proud of the milestone Vodacom has achieved in the last twenty years in promoting digital life in the country.
“Our vision of taking Tanzania to the digital world through technology is now being proven, as the innovation of our products and services has brought positive results to the community for example the M-Pesa payment system, solutions for large and small businesses through Pay by Phone, credit through M-Pawa and Songesha, Vodacom has changed from a telecommunications company only to a facilitator of economic development in the community, ”said Ms Riwa.
The Shangwe Shangwena campaign will reward customers with a variety of gifts and special offers, which will enable them to enjoy communication services during the festive season.


For his part, M-Pesa Director, Epimack Mbeteni thanked customers for their loyalty for 20 years, as well as for embracing technological advances and staed that this season the company wants to celebrate with its customers through Shangwe shangwena campaign.
“Customers get a chance to win, whenever they use M-Pesa services to do one or both of these; conducting one-to-one financial transactions (P2P), payment of business via Pay by Phone, Transfer of Money from Bank to M-Pesa (B2C), Payment for services such as Luku, Dawasco etc., as well as the purchase of bundles, airtime and smart phones or mobile devices, ”added Mbeteni.
